The basics of our teaching live in a deep and rich consciousness of Love. They rest in a Spiritual Soil that is always creating new growth and encouraging a Soulful Willingness to engage Life with Peace and lots of Joy. This month of May, I am calling upon the voices of our founder, Dr. Ernest Holmes and one of America’s greatest Spiritual teachers, Ralph Waldo Emerson.
Holmes was born in the late 1800s and lived to 1960. Emerson was born in 1803 and lived to 1882. Both were lovers of the Universe and both had profound influence in the Spiritual evolution of our country. Emerson was educated at Harvard. Holmes made it through the 8th grade. Both were a part of that deep Spiritual Soil we call Consciousness and both were willing to engage life with ideas and principles that could heal our sense of separation from God and lift us to new levels of perception so we could see the potential life offered.
In the five Sundays of May I will explore the basics of our philosophy and provide practical ways to apply the wisdom of our teaching, the Science of Mind. Dr. Holmes created this philosophy in the mid-20s and has influenced the world by creating ministers and practitioners who know how to teach its wisdom and live by its example. My first message will show you God in a unique way so you can understand how to strengthen and build your relationship with the Divine. As Emerson says by way of my interpretation, “Nature captures our hearts and is a cure that make us aware and heals.” To meet God, we must understand the Nature of the life we’ve been given to live and then engage that life with enthusiasm. Once we have the faith of God by means of the Love of God we will derive the peace of God.
My second and third talks will focus on how to create the Life we want to live and keep your heart open and free from fear. I meet so many people who are burdened by their fears and struggle to focus on what would free them from their sense of shame, guilt and concern. They want what our teaching offers, but they’re unwilling to change their minds for fear of challenging their culture. Finally, my fourth and fifth talks will be about what it takes to live peacefully and dip into the vast affirmative power we possess. Join me, I know you will be glad you did.
